Wells Cathedral is located in the Medieval City of Wells.  Built between 1175 and 1490, our Cathedral has been described as “the most poetic of the English Cathedrals”. We welcome visitors every day of the year to experience this wonderful and holy place.

With this in mind we are in the process of recruiting additional members of the team to join our Retail & Visitor Services team.

We are currently recruiting for a weekend Supervisor for our additional retail outlet and several Visitor Services Assistants to work in both our retail outlets and visitor entry/donation desk.

Salary: £8,953 per annum based on 20 hours a week

Wells Cathedral is seeking to appoint a part time Virger.  The Virgers are an integral part of the Cathedral Ministry to worshippers, pilgrims and visitors.  You will be working as part of a team to take responsibility for the day to day functioning of the Cathedral, including security of the buildings, welfare of all who enter and providing support to divine services and other events.

A genuine occupational requirement exists for the successful applicant to be a committed Christian in sympathy with the aims and objectives of the Church of England.

Matthew Owens, Organist & Master of the Choristers, is always pleased to hear from parents of prospective choristers and we are particularly looking for children in current school years 3 to 5 to start in September 2016. We will be holding pre-auditions in November and December 2015 in advance of the main auditions in January.

Volunteers Needed

Do you like helping and meeting new people?

Can you spare a couple of hours a week or month?

We have various roles available, but primarily volunteers are needed to greet, welcome and offer help to visitors to Wells Cathedral.
