Current vacancies at Wells Cathedral

Lay Member of Chapter

Wells Cathedral, Part-time, Voluntary Positions

We are looking for three people to join the Cathedral’s governance structure as lay members of Chapter (the executive body), and to play an active and integral role within it. As a member of Chapter you will take corporate responsibility for strategic planning, performance monitoring, risk management and compliance, and stakeholder management.

We seek people who are full members of a Christian church and are in sympathy with the aims of the Cathedral. In addition you will need an understanding of the contemporary context of the mission of the Church. You should have strategic experience at board level and, preferably, in one of visitor services, fundraising or estate management. Other relevant skills will also be considered.

It is expected that the overall time commitment will be the equivalent of 2 days per month, depending on precise responsibilities taken. The normal term of office is three years. These are voluntary positions and as such there is no remuneration other than reasonable working expenses.
