Making a donation

It costs over £4,000 per day to cover the maintenance, upkeep and running costs of this magnificent working Cathedral. We don’t receive any regular government funding and have to be entirely self-sufficient.

We therefore rely upon generous support from visitors, worshippers, volunteers, The Friends of Wells Cathedral and grant making trusts to help with the ongoing maintenance of this historic building and to help us to avoid admission charges.

How you can make a donation

There are a number of ways in which you can donate to support Wells Cathedral:

Donate Online – you can either make a one-off or a monthly donation to the Cathedral using your credit or debit card via our JustGiving Account which is available by following this link:

Donate by Text Message – UK residents are now able to make a donation to Wells Cathedral by Text Message.  Just text ‘WELL13′ and add the amount you wish to donate and send your text to 70070.

Standing Order – if you wish to make a regular donation please download and complete our Standing Order form and return to us at the address on the form:

Donate whilst visiting the Cathedral – you can give at one of our donation stations or use your debit/credit card via our Cathedral Shop.

Are you a UK Tax Payer?

Don’t forget if you are a UK Tax Payer that you can also help us to claim gift aid on your donation which means an extra 25p for every pound that you donate.  JustGiving and Text Donations allow you to do this automatically but if you are visiting the Cathedral please remember to complete a gift aid envelope.

If you have any queries about donating or wish to fundraise in another way to support Wells Cathedral please contact Kelly Hall on 01749 674483 or email [email protected]

Thank you.
