Visit Only

Anyone can visit Wells Cathedral and groups are always welcome. During the summer months in particular the Cathedral is extremely busy, so we would ask that students remain in small groups supervised by an adult. A welcome leaflet with a floor plan is given to each visitor on arrival and this can be used to make your way around the building.

We recommend that groups pre-book. This allows us to let you know of special services and events that might be taking place so that you can get the most out of your visit. This is a working cathedral and therefore from time to time events and services may need to be arranged at short notice. Having your details means we can keep you informed.

New Lower Rates for UK School Groups!

We are committed to making a cathedral visit accessible to all UK school groups, and have new lower rates for school visits.

A shorter visit of around an hour costs £1.80 per pupil. We offer free places for accompanying staff (supervision 1:10 please).

The shorter visit can include a guided tour at no extra cost, subject to guide availability. We need at least two weeks’ notice..

Please Note: unbooked groups will be asked on the day for our suggestion donation i.e. adults £6, children £3.

Prices are inclusive of VAT, payable through invoice.
