Sachin Gunga

Sachin Gunga is the current Senior Organ Scholar of Wells Cathedral, having taken up the post in September 2011. Before coming to Wells, he was organ scholar of Truro Cathedral. He completed his ARCO diploma in January 2011.

Sachin trained as a chorister in the Derby Cathedral Choir, and studied the organ with the Assistant Organist, Dr Tom Corfield. He went on to read Classics at Trinity Hall, Cambridge. After graduating in 2007, he spent a year as acting organ scholar of Trinity Hall chapel. Changing his academic focus from Classics to Music, he studied for a Master’s at Birmingham Conservatoire, under Henry Fairs and David Saint. He also sang with the Conservatoire Chamber Choir, and the choir of St Philip’s Cathedral, accompanying the occasional service there.
