Paintings Exhibition by David Carson Shaw

David Carson Shaw Exhibition poster

A free exhibition of paintings held in the Cathedral South Cloister from Friday 23 June to Friday 7 July.

The paintings in this exhibition represent a range of themes which have interested me for decades. They are based on visits to a variety of ecclesiastical sites great and small. All the images are derived from direct observation or the recorded memory of an experience.

They reflect and evoke imagery which is in the broadest sense spiritual and allegorical, including allusions, memories, fragments and palimpsests. There is an awareness of the divide between permanence and the fleeting passage of time.

Pereunt et Imputantur! (how the hours fly and are lost!)
