GROUP BOOKINGS

All groups are encouraged to book a visit to ensure facilities are open to them and to be advised of any restrictions of access that might apply.

We encourage group visits between 10.00am and 4.00pm, Monday to Saturday. Groups are welcome outside these times but free access to parts of the cathedral is restricted as they may be in use for the primary purpose of worship. Groups and individuals are always welcome to attend services. Please note the Cathedral operates a Quiet Hour, 12 noon to 1pm from April to October. Guided tours are not permitted during this time.
ARRIVAL

There is a designated coach setting down point in Sadler Street, just off Cathedral Green (see map). The group leader is asked to register at the Information Desk, on arrival, whilst the rest of the party either remain outside or sit at the back of the Nave. Group entrance is through the door on the left.
GUIDED TOURS

You may wish to walk around the Cathedral and discover for yourselves. However we do recommend a tour by one of our highly trained guides, which needs to be pre-booked (at least two weeks in advance) and is free of charge. Tours last approximately 45 minutes and add significantly to our visitors' enjoyment and appreciation of the Cathedral.
TRAVEL INFORMATION

Points to help in planning your visit:
Driving to Wells in the tourist season may take a little longer than expected.

Parking in Wells can be difficult and the ensuing walk to the Cathedral may take as long as 10 minutes. However, if travelling by coach your driver can drop you in Sadler Street, just off Cathedral Green.

Your prompt arrival will help our busy volunteer guides to keep to their schedules and prevent overcrowding in the Cathedral. If you are more than 20 minutes late we can't guarantee guide availability.

Cloister Restaurant

Situated in the original stone cloister the Restaurant seats up to 96 and serves coffee, lunches and teas. Food is freshly prepared and the Restaurant is Egon Ronay recommended. We advise groups (25 plus) to contact us in advance, as catering can be arranged in Vicars' Hall, a unique medieval function room. Discounts for group leaders/drivers or for multiple bookings are available.
Cathedral Shop

The Cathedral Shop sells an array of gifts, a range of CDs, including Wells Cathedral Choir recordings, as well as guidebooks and postcards.
