VISITING WELLS CATHEDRAL

Wells Cathedral welcomes visitors everyday of the year. Please feel free to attend one of the regular daily services or simply wander around this amazing building. Only by visiting can you properly experience this wonderful and holy place.

Guide books, leaflets and information boards are available to help interpret the historical, architectural and spiritual significance of the Cathedral.

Volunteer guides regularly provide excellent guided tours Monday to Saturday, which are free of charge and are of approximately 45 minutes duration.
DONATIONS

Admission to the Cathedral is free - donations are welcome. We receive no direct state aid and need over £3000 per day for the maintenance, upkeep and running costs of this magnificent working cathedral. We ask you to help by giving:

Adult: £5.50
Child/Student: £2.50
Senior Citizen: £4.00

If you are a UK taxpayer please give your donation in a yellow gift aid envelope. This scheme enables the cathedral to claim a tax refund of an extra 28p for every £1 you give.

   CATHEDRAL OPENING TIMES

APRIL, MAY, JUNE, JULY, AUGUST, SEPTEMBER
 7.00am - 7.00pm
OCTOBER - MARCH
 7.00am - 6.00pm
Please note the Cathedral operates a Quiet Hour 12 noon to 1pm from April to October. This restores the peace and tranquility of this holy place and serves as a reminder of its primary purpose as a place of worship. Guided tours do not take place during Quiet Hour.
ACCESS FOR VISITORS WITH DISABILITIES

Most parts of the interior of the Cathedral are accessible to wheelchairs via the Northwest door (ramped entrance left side of the West Front). There is a toilet for those with disabilities by the West Cloister. Some interpretive material is available in tactile format and some in braille. A wheelchair is available for loan. Audio-tour cassettes for those with a visual impairment may be borrowed. Guide dogs are permitted. The cathedral has a loop system installed. Any person wishing to visit the Cathedral, attend a service or other event, who requires assistance or needs further details, may find it useful to contact the Cathedral office.
PHOTOGRAPHY

Photography is encouraged subject to purchase of a permit from the Information Desk or Shop and the specified conditions being observed. Permits cost £3 for cameras and for videos. Flash photography is not permitted in the Quire at anytime to prevent damage to the delicate needlework.
