Lent Lecture with Dr David Hoyle, Dean of Bristol
Sunday 5th March
16:15 - 17:00
Description:Two Lent courses are being planned at Wells Cathedral this year – one a series of addresses at the Cathedral Eucharist by the Dean, the second a series of addresses at Sunday Evensong by visiting speakers to mark the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. The series of special Sunday afternoon sermons will begin on 5 March in the Nave when Dr David Hoyle, the Dean of Bristol, Reformation scholar and one of the best speakers in the Church of England, will preach on the pre-Reformation imagination – what was it like to worship, believe and pray before the Reformation? At 4.15pm. after Evensong and a cup of tea, David will deliver a lecture on 'Luther’s achievement' as a great reformer. Please join us for this and for the other events in this series every Sunday until Sunday 2 April (with further speakers including Jacob Rees-Mogg and the Bishop of Derby).
