Act of Worship at the Clock for Remembrance Day

Date:
Saturday 11th November

Time:
11:00 - 11:30

Description:Join us in the North Transept for this special Act of Remembrance at the Medieval Cathedral Clock for Armistice Day. A bugler, standard bearers and two minutes silence mark the occasion, with the laying of a wreath in honour of all those that took part in the war efforts. Refreshments will be served in the South Transept after. "The Cathedral authorities have once again kindly agreed to the Regimental Association being represented on Armistice Day, Saturday, 11th November 2017. The short Act of Remembrance, including the two minute silence, will take place in the North Transept of Wells Cathedral beneath the astronomical clock. It remains an informal occasion; however, in view of this year being the centenary of the Battle of the Passendaele in which so many men of the Somerset Light Infantry lost their lives, all Branches are particularly encouraged to attend and bring their Branch Standard. Wives, families and Ladies of the Regiment are particularly welcome." (Brigadier J Hemsley, OBE)
