Celebrating the Coronation at Wells Cathedral

Celebrating the Coronation at Wells Cathedral

Saturday 06–Sunday 07 May 2023

All are warmly invited to attend the Coronation services at Wells Cathedral, taking place over the weekend of 06–07 May 2023.

The services will take place alongside a host of other events across the city over the Coronation weekend—it promises to be a truly wonderful occasion!

On the morning of the Coronation a celebratory service of Choral Matins will be held in the Cathedral at 9.30 a.m., and will include Stanford Te Deum and Jubilate in C sung by the Cathedral Choir.

On Sunday 7 May, the weekend will culminate in a special ‘Coronation Celeration’ service at 10.30 a.m. on Sunday 7 May. Alongside triumphant coronation-themed music sung by the Cathedral Choir, the service will feature an address given by the very well known and respected journalist, writer, and broadcaster, Jonathan Dimbleby, who has known King Charles for over thirty years as a friend and as his biographer.

There is no admission charge to attend these services, but there will be retiring and/or offertory collections in aid of Wells Cathedral, towards which your generosity is greatly appreciated.

Further detail about the services can be found in the Cathedral’s Services and Music List.
