Be a Chorister for a Day

The Wells Cathedral ‘Be a Chorister for a Day’ event takes place each year on the second Saturday in October. Children aged between 7 and 9 years old learn what it is like to be a Cathedral Chorister.

The Cathedral’s annual ‘Be a Chorister for a Day’ event takes place on the second Saturday in October. Children aged between 7 and 9  are invited to come to the Cathedral for the day with their parents, and learn what it is like to be a Cathedral Chorister.

We can take up to 45 children for the day, which runs from 11.00am – 5.15pm. The programme includes singing games, learning about the Cathedral and finding out what a Chorister really does. Lunch is provided, and at the end of the day the children sing Evensong in the Quire of the Cathedral, with the Cathedral Choir.

In the afternoon, parents can take a tour of Wells Cathedral School and find out more about the education and opportunities on offer. There is afternoon tea provided in the historic Vicars’ Hall before the Evensong service.

Places are limited and the day is very popular.

If you are interested in the 2020 event, please contact the Cathedral Music Office via musicoffice@wellscathedral.uk.net.

If you can’t wait that long you may like to join Wells Cathedral Song Squad, for children aged 7-11, or Wells Cathedral Song Squad Minis, for children aged 5-6. Please email wellssongsquad@gmail.com for more information about how to join.
