Matins sung by R E Lee Memorial Episcopal Church Choir, Lexington, Virginia
Sunday 30th July
11:30 - 12:30
Description:This service of Choral Matins takes place in the Quire of Wells Cathedral and during term time is sung by the Wells Cathedral Choir. All welcome. Services this week are sung by R. E. Lee Memorial Episcopal Church’s adult choir. Located in Lexington, Virginia, which is nestled in the southern part of the Shenandoah Valley, R. E. Lee Memorial plays a central role in the musical activates of the region. The adult choir is made up of volunteers and choral scholars from Washington and Lee University, which is adjacent to the church. They are the primary choir leading worship at R. E. Lee’s 10:30 service on Sunday mornings, September through June. In addition to their regular work on Sunday mornings they prepare special musical offerings such as Cantatas, Lessons and Carols services, and festal Evensongs throughout the year. This is the choir’s first choral residency and we are thrilled to be welcoming them here in Wells.
