Rafael Klein "Family Tree" Sculpture Exhibition
Tuesday 17th October - Wednesday 18th October
Description:In October, Wells Cathedral will host FAMILY TREE, the touring sculpture exhibition which has already been seen at the cathedrals in Rochester and Portsmouth. Family Tree is a touring exhibition of sculpture and graphic work by American artist Rafael Klein. The sculptures – made from steel, copper and bronze - explore the ways we are all connected, using the tree as its central metaphor. 'This is an exhibition which works on many levels. It fits so well into the Romanesque arches of Portsmouth Cathedral, and has echoes of the humanistic tradition of the Renaissance and also is reminiscent of the tree of life motif in traditional Christian art. Rafael Klein has produced art which fits well into the context, and at the same time is stimulating and challenging.’ Dean David Brindley Portsmouth Cathedral. ARTIST TALK Klein will be giving an Artist Talk about the exhibition and about his own artist books on Wednesday, 18 October at 4pm as part of the WELLS FESTIVAL of LITERATURE you can book for this free talk below.
