'Reimagining Britain' St George's Day Event will follow today's Festal Eucharist.A chance to reflect together on St George’s Day Monday 23rd April:
The Archbishop of Canterbury has written a book partly on the state of our nation, but also envisaging how our nation could be.
Reimagining Britain (by Justin Welby, Bloomsbury, 2018 £16.99) is now being widely reviewed and discussed. So it’s high time that Wells Cathedral sponsored some public discussion on the themes the Archbishop is raising. St George’s Day seems just the right day to do that! So, the plan is as follows:
(Festal Eucharist in the Quire at 5:15pm)
A discussion and debate to follow, in the Chapter Room, from 6:30pm. Several speakers will outline themes from the book. It will be helpful but not essential to have read the text.
For those who wish, there is then a chance to go out for supper together locally. If we know likely numbers, we can book tables at ASK. Supper would be at about 8pm
Please sign up by emailing uk.; or sign the list on the table in the North Transept. Please indicate if you want to join the supper party. Copies of the book are available from the Cathedral Bookshop.
