Choral Evensong sung by the Clerkes of Old Sarum
Friday 17th August
17:15 - 18:15
Description:Choral Evensong is held in the Quire of Wells Cathedral and is sung this week by The Clerkes of Old Sarum. The Clerkes of Old Sarum became a choir in 1990 and their first visit was to sing Services in Glastonbury. During that visit, the choir came to Wells to sing Compline in the Chapel at the North end of Vicars' Close. Since then, the choir has visited Wells on more than a dozen occasions to sing services in the Cathedral. The singers come together a few times a year from all parts of Britain (and sometimes from overseas) to sing services at churches and Cathedrals when the resident choir is on vacation. Although new singers are often recruited, some of the founder members are still singing, but now with just a couple of grey hairs (or green). The Clerkes of Old Sarum are grateful to the people of Wells for making them feel 'at home' and are delighted to be back among friends, old and new, to share in the worship of God. This service is open to the public and all are welcome.
