Remembrance 100 Exhibition
Monday 5th November - Tuesday 6th November
Description:As part of Remembrance 100 there will be a WWI Centenary Poppies Exhibition from Monday 29 October to Friday 16 November. Knitted and crocheted poppies will be displayed in a trail from the Chapter House leading down the Chapter House Steps. Poppies will also adorn the War Memorial in the North Transept as a fitting tribute to all those lives lost and affected by the First World War and as a reminder of all souls still caught up in wars and conflict.
If you would like to take part in knitting or crocheting poppies for the exhibition, please see the website for details.
From Friday 2 November through to the morning of Friday 16 November the 'No News of Fred' exhibition returns to the South Cloister, complimenting the poppies exhibition. It tells the story of a local man who served in the Somerset Light Infantry Regiment and was lost on the first day of the Battle of the Somme. His name is one of 11,281 inscribed in Wells Cathedral's Golden Book of Remembrance in St Martin's Chapel.
