Matins sung by District Chorale choir, USA
Sunday 18th August
11:30 - 12:30
Description:This service of Choral Matins takes place in the Quire of Wells Cathedral and today is sung by District Chorale choir (USA), a volunteer ensemble based in Washington DC. Its members are a cross section of the vibrant DC choral scene, with many government and charity workers in its ranks. Newly formed in 2019, the chorale aims to bring the work of composers and poets to life, while having fun in the process. With a particular focus on unaccompanied singing, the ensemble enjoys mining the wealth of the Anglican Choral Tradition. Next season it will be exploring works by living composers, and is partnering with Trinity College, Melbourne for their Valentine’s Day concert in Washington. Its director, Geoffrey Silver, sang as a boy at Westminster Abbey and All Saints’ Crowborough, and later, at Trinity College and St. John’s College, Cambridge. This service is open to the public and all are welcome.
