Somerset Chamber Choir Concert

Saturday 30th July

19:00 - 21:00

The celebrated Somerset Chamber Choir make a welcome return to the Cathedral for their annual Summer concert. This year they will perform MOZART’S ‘GREAT’ MASS IN C MINOR - thought by many critics to be Mozart's masterpiece in the field of religious composition. This wonderful music has a breadth of scale and a grandeur that recalls the great baroque choral masterpieces of Bach and Handel. The concert will also include Mendelssohn’s majestic PSALM 95, Haydn's extraordinary REPRESENTATION OF CHAOS from The Creation, and two movements from Ola Gjeilo’s SUNRISE MASS - a wonderfully imaginative work whose rich, consonant harmonies are bound to win this already hugely popular Norwegian composer many new fans. Joining the Choir will be Southern Sinfonia, one of the UK’s most distinguished chamber ensembles, and an exceptional line-up of young soloists.
