Sunday 2nd June
15:00 - 16:00
This service is held in the Quire of Wells Cathedral. Please refer to the Cathedral's Services and Music List for further information.
St Mary’s Parish Choir has along tradition of providing first-rate music for the services. Indeed, St Mary’s is one of the few remaining village choirs in England still to sing Choral Mattins regularly as well as the more usual services of Eucharist and Choral Evensong. We have thoroughly enjoyed singing at Wells over recent years and are delighted to have been invited back. The choir has paid regular visits to Chichester Cathedral to sing the services there as well as many other cathedrals including Canterbury, Exeter, Guildford, Liverpool, Portsmouth, Winchester, Worcester, and St. Albans, plus St. George’s Chapel, Windsor. We are due to sing at Llandaff in July. The church is lucky to have a second choir as well, and the Singers cover the monthly baptism service and when the Parish Choir is on holiday. We have a link to Wells as former Director of Music Jeremy Cole was the Church’s Organ Scholar before University. One of our other recent Organ Scholars is the Assistant at Southwell Minster, and another went from Liverpool to take up a major position in the USA.
