Organ Meditations

Organ Meditations

A new series of Organ Meditations is here!

This series will take place on Thursday evenings at 7pm from the 1st October. All are welcome to attend.

Wells Cathedral is hosting a series of liturgical offerings from 7.00-7.50pm on Thursday Evenings during October. These will be devotional meditations and will have a different feel to the Cathedral’s regular organ recitals, with moments of prayer to frame the music. Much of the repertoire has been inspired by Christian faith and texts; there will be moments of power and majesty, as well as moments of repose and reflection.

For those unable to attend in person, a recording of each meditation will be available the following day on our audio webcasts page.

We are delighted to have a wonderful selection of organists playing in the coming weeks:

1st October:

Alexander Hamilton Assistant Director of Music

8th October:

Peter King formerly of Bath Abbey

15th October:

Shean Bowers Assistant Director of Music, Bath Abbey

22nd October:

Barry Rose formerly of Guildford, St Paul’s and St Albans Cathedrals

29th October:

Colin Walsh Organist Laureate, Lincoln Cathedral

Admission is free with a retiring collection, the proceeds of which will go towards the Cathedral’s Bounce Back Appeal. We look forward to seeing you there.
