This year, we celebrated Somerset Day online as part of the the ‘Why I love Somerset’ Campaign created by Somerset Day 365. This has a single, very simple aim – to replace the hundreds of events due to take place across villages, communities and towns throughout Somerset on and around Somerset Day with a major celebration online, through social media.
Here’s what we shared on our social media pages to show our appreciation for the county of Somerset!
To celebrate this wonderful county, here are 5 reasons why we love Somerset.
We love and thank God for the NHS, for our other public services and for all working in organisations delivering the essential and invaluable services that are making such a difference to Somerset communities and the most vulnerable in our society.
We love and thank God for the Somerset farmers, agricultural workers, food-producers and local suppliers who also provide the finest and most delicious local produce for all to enjoy
We love and thank God for Wells Cathedral’s staff, its volunteers, its congregation, the Wells Coronavirus and other local networks for your expertise, hard work and good will. Your skills, time and kindness are appreciated very much.
We love and thank God for the landscapes of Somerset, for the rolling hills and wide skies and for the comfort the countryside provides in times of difficulty.
Most of all, we love and thank God for the people of Somerset, for your generosity of spirit, for your warmth and for everything you do to support and care for Somerset’s Cathedral in Wells.
