Upcoming Concerts:

Carols by Candlelight
Thursday 1oth December 2020 | 7pm

Many have been waiting for news on whether the Cathedral will offer Candlelight Concerts this year. Usually we seat 1,000 people per night but this year that will not be possible. We are not sure yet if we will be out of lockdown and able to host an audience at all, but assuming we can, there will be two different experiences offered this year including a live performance on Thursday 10th December and a recorded Candlelight Concert that will be released on the website for donations later in December.

Sanctus Live at Wells Cathedral
Friday 11th December 2020 | 7:30 pm

Please note: This concert has been moved from 28th November to 11th December due to changes in Government guidance.

In these troubled times, the world needs to be uplifted and to be reminded of the vital role that our cathedrals and sacred spaces fulfil in relieving stress and enabling us to connect with our higher purpose. The Sanctus Project is sacred music re-invented for the 21st Century.

The result is a deeply spiritual and meditative experience whose natural home is the Cathedrals, Abbeys and Churches of Europe. Ian and Dominic have been touring with this album since January this year to critical acclaim.

In addition to playing music from their Sanctus album they will be showcasing new Hildegard material from Sanctus 2, and to welcome in advent, they will be performing traditional Christmas carols and tunes giving them the “Sanctus” treatment.

Programmes can be pre-purchased with tickets and will be on your seats on arrival.

A Classical Christmas with Tasmin Little and Fantasia Orchestra
Friday 18th & Saturday 19th December | 7:30pm

Wells Cathedral is delighted to announce that Tasmin Little and Fantasia Orchestra have agreed to perform two Classical Christmas Concerts on Friday 18th and Saturday 19th December 2020.

The programme will include Bach’s Violin Concerto in E Major – the final Concerto performance of Tasmin’s career.

Fantasia Orchestra will also be performing Corelli’s Christmas Concerto, Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings, and some Christmas favourites to get you in the festive mood!

Programmes and interval refreshments can be purchased on Eventbrite. Pre-purchased programmes will be on your seats on arrival.
