Which pass is right for me?

Wells Cathedral Card

Make the most of what’s on offer throughout the year at Wells Cathedral, whilst helping to secure its future. As well as 12-month access to the Cathedral during visitor hours, cardholders can enjoy:

  • 10% discount on Shop and Loft Café purchases
  • Priority booking at selected Cathedral organised events.
  • A free place on a booked tour when bringing a group.
  • 10% discount on pre-booked tour prices- High Parts, Chained Library and Special Interest Tours
  • Option to pay for a guest on a single visit for a reduced charge at £10.00.
  • Option to buy an additional guest card at the same price as a Local (BA5 Postcode) card.

Joint Day Ticket to Wells Cathedral and The Bishop’s Palace and Gardens

Provides discounted day entry to both major attractions versus the cost of separate admission.

How to Purchase

Tickets can be purchased at the Cathedral’s Welcome Desk, at The Bishop’s Palace’s Ticket Office or online here.

Residents’ Pass

Providing free admission to the Cathedral for 12 months from date of issue, anyone who lives within the city council boundaries of the City of Wells, South Horrington and the Wookey Hole Road is eligible to apply for a free Wells Cathedral Residents’ Pass. Each resident needs to apply for an individual pass — If you are applying for more than one resident, you will need to provide proof of address for each named individual.
Your pass will be valid for the duration of your residence within the city council boundaries of the City of Wells.

How to Apply

If you would like to apply for a Residents’ Pass, we will ask you to bring a form of address ID to the Welcome Desk and a pass will be processed there, between 9am and 4.30pm (11am to 3pm Sundays).  There is no deadline for application.

Parish Pass

Anyone who is on the parish church’s electoral roll and living in the Diocese of Bath and Wells (or Cathedral Community Roll) is eligible to apply for a Wells Cathedral Parish Pass which provides free admission to the Cathedral for the duration of the current church electoral roll period. Each parishioner needs to apply for an individual pass — If you are applying for more than one parishioner, you will need to provide proof of address for each named individual.

How to Apply

If you would like to apply for a Parish Pass, please complete the Application for a Wells Cathedral Parish Card with your churchwarden. Take the completed form to the Welcome Desk in Wells Cathedral between 9am and 4.30pm (11am to 3pm Sundays) in order to collect your pass. Forms are also available at the Cathedral’s Welcome Desk.

Pass for Retired Clergy

Anyone who is retired clergy living in the Diocese of Bath and Wells can apply for this pass and this pass will provide free admission to the Cathedral for 12 months from the date of issue.
