Wells Cathedral is open to all visitors – come and see!
Adult tourism visitors are asked to contribute to the upkeep of this beautiful building with an admission charge. Under 18s are free, or you may be eligible for either a Residents’ Pass or Parish Pass; details HERE.
There is no charge for people who wish to come into the Cathedral to pray, attend a service or light a candle.
Occasionally the Cathedral, or parts of it, may need to close or only offer restricted access for a service, special event, filming or general maintenance. We try to minimise these periods as much as we can, as we know that people may travel long distances to visit us.
Please therefore check the Closures and Restrictions page for any last minute changes prior to your visit.
Guide dogs, hearing dogs and assistance dogs are welcome in the Cathedral at all times. Other dogs are welcome in the Cathedral providing they are on a lead and well-behaved. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed on any tour that goes above ground-level (which includes the Library and High Parts Tours). Water bowls are available in the Cathedral and dog biscuits can be found at the counter in The Loft Café.
We are committed to making Wells Cathedral accessible to all but, like many historic buildings, there may be some access issues. More information can be found here.
Photography is encouraged, but please refrain from using flash inside, and from photographing, videoing or recording any services, concerts or rehearsals. Thank you.
Please help us to protect the medieval stonework by finishing any food and drinks before entering the Cathedral
Please ensure your phone is switched to silent and any calls are taken outside.
Wells Cathedral is a no smoking site, including the gardens and precincts.
