Medieval Vicars’ Hall is accessed via a set of medieval stone stairs. This historic room overlooks Vicars’ Close – a unique and very beautiful 14th Century street. Situated by the Chain Gate and through an arch to the east of Wells Cathedral, the majority of houses in Vicars’ Close are occupied by employees of the Cathedral including the Vicars’ Choral (the altos, tenors, and basses of the choir) who have been singing the services in the Cathedral since the early Middle Ages.
Lunch Group Bookings are available for a minimum of 40 people. Private Evening Functions/Dinners, Wedding receptions, Corporate Hospitality, and other events are available by arrangement.
The Capacity of Vicars’ Hall depends on the arrangement of its tables and chairs. Potential arrangements are as follows:
We can provide delicious, homemade food using the best local produce Somerset has to offer. Including sandwich platters and cake platters.
The Cathedral café serves the most wonderful homemade cakes – all of which are hand baked in our Cathedral kitchen, located underneath the café.
