Cantemus Cum Spiritu is a choir formed of singers who would be considered leaders in their own choirs, but whose choirs don't necessarily have the chance to sing in Cathedrals. The idea of the choir is that by working with other singers of a similar level, they may be lifted to singing church choral music with a spirit and understanding which is inspiring both to them and to the listener. It is hoped that the experience they gain from this will, in turn, enthuse and inspire members of their 'home' choirs and, in so doing, help to strengthen church choirs generally. The singers this week come from all over the UK, as well as one from Germany. They are led by Jeff Stewart, who is an internationally known operatic tenor and singing teacher, whose first love was the choral tradition in which he grew up.
