Why Donations Are Important
Caring for this magnificent Cathedral is both our responsibility and our privilege. The conservation, maintenance, and interpretation work we undertake is continuous, ensuring the building remains safe, accessible, and meaningful for present and future generations.
Like other English cathedrals, Wells Cathedral does not receive regular funding for its upkeep from the Government or the Church of England. Instead, its care is supported through a combination of visitor income, events, supporters, and donations, with around £6,000 needed each day to keep the Cathedral running and well maintained.
How You Can Help
There are a number of ways you can donate to support Wells Cathedral:
Donate Online
You can make a one-off donation or arrange a monthly contribution to the Cathedral using your credit or debit card. You can also leave a message as to why you’ve donated, whether marking a wedding in the Cathedral, in recognition of a loved one, or just as a thank you for an enjoyable visit. Planned Giving
Gifts made through our scheme help to maintain and develop the ongoing work of the Cathedral. It allows you to give the same amount each week or month, with a regular payment standing order with your bank. Simply download and complete our interactive Planned Giving Form and return it by email or post.
In Person
It’s easy to give with as you arrive at the Cathedral’s Welcome Desk, or if you prefer at one of the discreet cash or contactless points inside the Cathedral. Don
UK Tax Payer?
If you are a UK taxpayer you can boost your donation by 25p for every £1 you donate with Gift Aid, at no further cost to you. Help us to claim gift aid on your donation if applicable by completing and returning the form below. JustGiving allow you to do this automatically, and if you’re visiting the Cathedral please remember to complete a gift aid envelope or register with SwiftAid.
