The majority of the work on the fabric of the Gothic Cathedral and wider Estate properties is undertaken by an in-house Works Department maintenance team under the leadership of the Clerk of the Works.  The Cathedral Estate includes Vicars’ Close, Europe’s oldest continuously inhabited street; the Dean’s Lodging; and the modern houses currently occupied by four Canons.

As part of the team, you will work with colleagues and on your own to provide a variety of reactive and planned maintenance and repair services, in compliance with our procedures and relevant legislation to ensure the operational continuity of the Cathedral. You will be a suitably qualified or experienced trade practitioner, ideally with some experience of working on historic listed buildings.
