Lenten Reflections: Pilgrimage

Lenten Reflections: Pilgrimage

This Lent, we invite you to join us for a reflective and enriching series of talks exploring the theme of Pilgrimage. These sessions will take place on Tuesdays after Evensong, beginning on Shrove Tuesday (Tuesday 4 March) and concluding just before Holy Week (Tuesday 8 April), providing a perfect opportunity to deepen your spiritual journey during this sacred season.

The Lenten Reflections will start shortly after Evensong in the Education Room, typically between 6.05 p.m. and 6.15 p.m., and will run until 8.00 p.m. at the latest. Each session will feature a talk or led reflection lasting up to an hour and a half, with time for questions and discussion.

For those wishing to continue in prayer, a short service of  Compline will be held after the talks around 7.30 p.m. to conclude the evening.

We are grateful to our speakers for offering their insights on Pilgrimage.

  • 4 March: An Ocean Pilgrimage – The Reverend Mary Lewis, Priest Vicar
  • 11 March: Pilgrimage Step by Step – The Reverend Canon Tim Stevens, Canon Precentor
  • 18 March: Walking with St. Wite – The Reverend Rosey Lunn, Priest Vicar
  • 25 March: Pilgrimage in the Psalms – The Reverend Patrick Woodhouse
  • 1 April: Pilgrimage as Identity Formation – The Reverend Edward Day, Cathedral Curate
  • 8 April: Pilgrimage: An Integrated Journey? – The Venerable Anne Gell, Archdeacon of Wells

We warmly welcome all who wish to attend, whether you’re able to join us for one session or the entire series. There is no obligation to attend all the talks; simply come when you can. As we reflect on Pilgrimage together, we’ll also be gauging the interest of the Cathedral community for additional sessions during the Easter season, possibly at different times and on varying days.

Your feedback is most welcome, as it will help shape future offerings in our shared spiritual life.

We are excited to gather as a community for these talks, which we hope will offer meaningful moments of reflection and connection during Lent. There’s no need for any prior preparation—just come as you are. We look forward to seeing you there.
