Wells Cathedral has been shortlisted for the second year running as a finalist for the Bristol, Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards 2023/24 in two categories.

The Cathedral is sincerely grateful to all those who have supported it in the past year and made this nomination possible—whether through donation, attending an event or service, volunteering, or other means.

Such awards encourage others to visit and share in the beauty and holiness of the building, to enjoy what’s on offer, and ultimately to secure the Cathedral’s future for the benefit of generations to come.

This follows last year’s triumph in three categories at the Bristol, Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards 2022-23 — a testament to the dedication, hard work, and generosity of so many staff and volunteers over that year.

The two categories in which the Cathedral has been shortlisted for the 2023–24 awards are:

  • Large Visitor Attraction of the Year, sponsored by Albert Goodman — Wells Cathedral
  • Café/Tearoom of the Year — The Loft at Wells Cathedral

“A hidden gem”

Following the announcement, The Loft received a review from Somerset County Gazette, which lauded the quality and hospitality on offer:

“Both the coffee and the flapjack were delicious, especially the coffee, which actually exceeded my already heightened expectations.”

“The staff were incredibly friendly and personable, going above and beyond to make every customer feel as relaxed and welcome as I did.”

We’ll chink our teacups to that!

The awards ceremony takes place later in November —Fingers crossed until then!
