WCCT to Host Girl Choristers’ 30th Anniversary Celebrations

Saturday 15 June 2024

A celebration of the 30th Anniversary of Girl Choristers at Wells Cathedral will take place on Saturday 15 June 2024, together with the Annual Reunion of the Wells Cathedral Choir Association (WCCA).

All former Wells Cathedral Choristers are warmly invited to attend reunion events and sing with the Choir, and everyone is welcome to attend the 5.15 p.m. Choral Evensong service that day in the Nave.

All those interested can RSVP via the WCCT website to help make preparations for the day — whether you’re attending the whole day, or just the evening service.

The reunion is being organised by the admin team of the Wells Cathedral Chorister Trust. It is hoped many former Boy and Girl Choristers of Wells Cathedral will come to celebrate. Former Choristers should make sure they register their interest in order to receive the formal invitation: www.wcct.co.uk/girls-30.

The former Girl Choristers will have their own gathering in the morning and a celebratory brunch in Cedars Drawing Room. This will be followed in the afternoon by rehearsals with former Boy Choristers alongside the current Cathedral Choir, a ‘Chorister Tea’ in Quilter Hall, and Evensong, which will include a specially commissioned introit by Joanna Marsh funded by the Cathedral’s own Cathedral Commissions scheme.

Other music will include Dyson in D and Parry’s Blest pair of Sirens. After Evensong there will be a reception for former Choristers and their family and friends. The Celebration Choir will be directed by the Acting Director of Music, Alexander Hamilton.

Please do add your details to the WCCT Facebook page and the WCCT update list to ensure you don’t miss out on any news from the Trust: www.wcct.co.uk/update

We look forward to a very special event!
