We were thrilled to welcome a wonderful array of spontaneous artists to our ‘Capture the Cathedral in a Drawing’ event on Saturday, 25 October 2025.

This unique occasion—our first of its kind—was a collaboration between Wells Cathedral and Wells Art Contemporary. Visitors of all ages were invited to pick up complimentary art supplies, generously provided by St Cuthbert’s Mill and Somerset Frames, and sketch whatever sparked their imagination. From intricate carvings and vibrant stained glass, to personal perspectives of the architecture, people’s imaginations flourished throughout the day!

As rehearsals for the Wells Cathedral Oratorio Society’s performance of Brahms’ Requiem that evening filled the space with music, many artists found themselves inspired not only by the soaring harmonies but also by the breathtaking view of the choir and orchestra framed by the iconic Scissor Arches.
