We were thrilled to welcome a wonderful array of spontaneous artists to our ‘Capture the Cathedral in a Drawing’ event on Saturday 10 October 2026, the opening day of the annual Wells Art Contemporary exhibition.

This unique occasion was a collaboration between Wells Cathedral and Wells Art Contemporary. Visitors of all ages were invited to pick up free art materials and sketch whatever sparked their imagination. From the Cathedral’s stunning scissor arches and intricate carvings, to its vibrant stained glass and of course Basil the Cathedral cat, people’s imaginations flourished throughout the day!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us. We invite you to explore the gallery below, showcasing the incredible artworks created by visitors young and old.

The Wells Art Contemporary Exhibition will be at the Cathedral until 7 November 2026.
