Warm Spaces Initiative Returns to Wells Cathedral

Helping our community to keep warm and stay connected this winter.

This winter, Wells Cathedral is once again opening its doors to offer warmth, comfort, and community support. A warm space is available in the Cathedral Café, and a warm rail is located by the Cathedral Shop for anyone who may need them.

Across the country, the Church of England is providing warm spaces for people struggling with rising energy costs. These spaces offer more than just heat — many also provide food, activities, and opportunities to connect with others and feel part of a community.

This initiative is part of the national Warm Welcome campaign, a UK‑wide network of more than 5,000 venues — including libraries, churches, and community centres — offering a warm, safe place for anyone who needs it. You can find out more about the initiative at www.warmwelcome.uk.

The Loft Café: Designated Warm Space

Visitors can enjoy free teas and filter coffees at The loft Café — simply say, “I’m here to keep warm.” If you would like to support the initiative, please speak to a member of our team or consider making a donation with your order.

Warm Rail

Located outside the Cathedral Shop, the Warm Rail offers free warm clothing for anyone who needs it. You are welcome to take what you need or donate clean, good‑quality garments. Please ensure all pockets are empty before donating.

Please help us spread the word to anyone who may benefit from these offerings.
